After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer, you can start building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for prayer in the morning:

Begin by talking to God, ask for his presence as you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on it. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times or by listing anything it tells you about yourself, or guidelines to obey or promises to claim.

Structure your prayer by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Prayerfully address your immediate needs and worries as well as taking time to be in God’s presence.

The beauty of a prayer routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. Many people might only have just a few minutes while others might have a half an hours or longer. The trick is that you make this a regular element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off one or two days, don’t sweat it! Just get back on track the following day.

Use your imagination and try to visualize the scenes in the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and put yourself in their shoes. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.

You can also try incorporating different types prayers into your daily routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This can keep your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

Find an accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will be checking in with you and help you to keep to your routine. They could even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.

Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to deepen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line to His plan.
