How do you begin? It’s the first thing to do is determine the time of day that works best for you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day by praying, while others prefer to pray before going to getting to bed. Try it out and discover what works for you.
Once you’ve identified the ideal time for prayer then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:
Begin by talking to God, ask for his presence as you read and pray.
Read a passage from the Bible and meditate on it. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times or by listing the things it says about yourself or examples to follow, commands to obey , or promises to claim.
Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your needs and pressing concerns and then take time to sit in the presence of God.
The best thing about the prayer time routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. Many people might only have some minutes and others could be able to devote a whole time or even more. The key is that you make this a regular part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through one or two days, don’t sweat it! Get back on track for the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is a great way to start your new year off with a fresh feeling of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s an effective way to start your day, keeping your eyes on the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.
Another way to increase your prayer practice is to make it more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God in a deeper way. Try using your imagination to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their shoes. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.
Try incorporating different forms prayers into your routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.
One of the most effective ways to stay engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing your practice with others. Find an accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to stick to your schedule. They can even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.
Rememberthat the purpose of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or adhering to a strict set of guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that is a good fit for you and make it a priority in your daily life.
