Once you’ve identified the ideal time for prayer, you can start to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayer:

Begin by addressing God to ask for his presence as you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and meditate on it. This can be done by reading it three to four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself or examples to follow, commands to obey , or promises to keep.

Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to sit in the presence of God.

The best thing about the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. For some, you may have only a few minutes to spare, while others may have a half an hours or longer. It’s important making it a constant element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two do not fret! Just get back on track the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is an excellent method to begin your new year off with a fresh sense of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s a powerful way to start your day, keeping your eyes on the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.

Another way to increase your prayer practice is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to visualize the scenes within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character, and put yourself in their position. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.

It is also possible to incorporate different types of prayer into your routine. For example, try a silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming repetitive and provide some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to remain focused and in line with your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with other people. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who will be checking in with you and encourage you to stick to your daily routine. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to strengthen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned with His will. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. Take the time to create a routine of prayer that you enjoy and incorporate it in your day-to-day life.
