Begin by addressing God and asking for his presence as you read and meditate.

Read a passage from the Bible and then meditate on it. This can be accomplished by reading it three or four times or by listing anything it tells you about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to keep.

Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.

The great thing about praying is that it can be adapted to meet your requirements. Many people might only have just a few minutes, while others may have a half an hours or longer. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters, and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating various forms prayers into your day-to-day routine. For example, try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who can check in with you and help you to adhere to your routine. They could even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.

The goal of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned in accordance with His plans.
