Are you looking to take your spirituality to the next level? One of the most effective ways to accomplish this is to establish a regular prayer habit.

Consider it your spiritual exercise, similar to as you workout to keep in shape. regular prayer keeps your soul healthy and in tune with the Divine.

The most challenging aspect of prayer is to make it a regular part of our life. With a bit of planning and effort it is possible to create an effective prayer schedule that works for you and your time. And the most appealing part is that you get to customize it to fit your personality and your spiritual beliefs.

It’s true that life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayer slide off the list of priorities. Like everything else worth being a part of, it requires dedication and discipline. This is where the creation of the habit of praying comes into. It gives the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re connecting with the divine on an ongoing basis.

So, how do you get started? It’s the first thing to do is figure out what time of day is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer while others find it easier to pray before going to bed. Try it out and discover what works for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray then you can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayers:

Begin by approaching God and asking for his presence as you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on it. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself, examples to follow, commands to obey or promises to claim.

Structure your prayer by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to sit in the presence of God.

The great thing about a prayer routine is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. Many people might only have just a few minutes while others might have a half an hours or longer. It’s important that you make this a consistent part of your daily routine. If you fall off one or two days do not fret! Just get back on track the next day.

A daily prayer practice is a wonderful way to start your new year off with a renewed belief in the purpose of your life and a feeling of connection to the divine. It’s an effective way to begin your day by keeping your eyes on the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer practice is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of reciting the words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Try using your imagination to picture the scenes described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their position. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.

Try incorporating various forms in your prayer day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to remain engaged and focused on your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with others. Find an accountability partner either a close friend or family member who can check in with you and encourage you to stick to your daily routine. They can even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.

Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and align your thoughts and actions to His plan. It’s not about perfection or adhering to the strict guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to discover a prayer practice that works for you and make it a priority in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed at how much difference it makes on your spiritual growth and overall well-being.
