So, how do you start? The first step is to decide the time of day that works best for you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer while others prefer to pray at night before bed. Test and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer then you can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:

Begin by talking to God to ask for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Take a chapter from the Bible and meditate on the passage. This can be done by reading it three or four times, or writing down everything it reveals about yourself or the examples you can follow, instructions to obey , or promises to make.

Structure your prayer by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to enjoy God’s presence.

The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it is customizable to fit your needs. For some, you may have only just a few minutes while others might have an time or even more. The key is making it a regular element of your day-to-day routine. And if you miss the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! Just get back on track for the next day.

A daily prayer practice is a wonderful way to start this new year feeling a renewed belief in the purpose of your life and a spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful way to start your day, putting your focus to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.

Another way to increase your prayer time is to create a more interactive. Instead of simply reciting phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their position. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different forms of prayer into your routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even journaling your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the best methods to keep yourself focused and in line with your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with other people. Find an accountability partner, a friend or family member who can check in with you and help you to stick to your routine. They can even join you in prayer and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans. It’s not about achieving perfection or adhering to an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your life of faith. So, take the time to discover a prayer practice that works for you and incorporate it within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed by the difference it can make in your spiritual growth and overall health.
