Begin by addressing God to ask for his help while you read and pray.
Take a chapter from the Bible and meditate on it for a while. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself or examples to follow, commands to obey , or promises to make.
Your prayer should be structured by making confession, adoration as well as petition and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your needs and pressing concerns, and take time to enjoy God’s presence.
The beauty of praying is that it can be adapted to fit your needs. For some, you may have only some minutes and others could have a half an hour or more. The key is that you make this a constant element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off a day or two, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track the next day.
The practice of daily prayer is a great way to start this new year feeling a new sense of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s an effective way to begin your day by placing your attention upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.
Another method to improve your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Try using your imagination to imagine the scenes that are described within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This will make your prayer time more personal and meaningful.
You can also try incorporating various forms prayers into your routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming boring and will add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to adhere to your daily routine. They could even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.
