The most challenging aspect of prayer is making it a consistent part of our life. But with a little bit of planning and effort you can develop an effective prayer schedule that works for you and your time. The best part is, you can customize it to match your own personality and spiritual tradition.

This is where the creation of a prayer routine comes in. It provides an order and accountability to make sure we are connected to God on a regularly.
So, how do you begin? First, you must decide the time of day that works best for you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer while others find it easier to pray at night before bed. Test and see what works for you.
Once you’ve identified the ideal time to pray, you can start to build your routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayers:
Begin by approaching God to ask for his blessing while you read and pray.
Go through a section of the Bible and meditate on it for a while. This can be done by reading it three or four times, or writing down the things it says about yourself, or guidelines to obey , or promises to make.
Your prayer should be structured by praying for adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your immediate needs and worries as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.
The best thing about praying is that it is customizable to meet your requirements. Many people might only have some minutes and others could have an time or even more. The trick is that you make this a constant part of your routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two do not fret! You can get back on track the following day.
The practice of daily prayer is a great method to begin the new year with a new sense of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by putting your focus upon the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned in accordance with His plan.
Another method to improve your prayer practice is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God in a deeper way. Try using your imagination to picture the scenes described within the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters, and put yourself in their position. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.
You can also try incorporating various forms in your prayer daily routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even journaling your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide variety to your spiritual routine.
One of the most effective ways to remain motivated and on track with your prayer practice is by sharing the practice with other people. Find a partner in accountability, a family member or friend member who will check on you regularly and help you to adhere to your routine. They could even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.
Rememberthat the purpose of a regular prayer routine is to increase your connection with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or following an unwritten set of rules, it’s about being deliberate and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that you enjoy and set it as a priority in your daily life. You’ll be amazed at how much difference it makes for your spiritual development and overall health.
