Let’s be real, life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayer slide off the priority list. However, just like everything else worth having, it requires commitment and discipline. This is where the creation of a prayer routine comes in. It provides an order and accountability to ensure that we’re connected to God on a an ongoing basis.
How do you start? First, you must figure out the time of day that is most conducive to you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day by praying, while others prefer to pray in the evening before going to bed. Try it out and discover what works best for you.
Once you’ve determined the best time to pray You can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayers:
Begin by approaching God, ask for his presence as you read and pray.
Take a chapter from the Bible and reflect on the passage. It can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or listing the things it says about yourself or examples to follow, commands to obey , or promises to claim.
Your prayer should be structured by offering adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Prayerfully address your needs and pressing concerns and then take time to sit in the presence of God.
The best thing about the prayer time routine is that it can be adapted to fit your needs. For some, you may have only just a few minutes and others could have an hours or longer. The trick is to make it a constant part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the next day.
A daily prayer practice is a great method to begin your new year off with a new feeling of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s a powerful way to start your day, keeping your eyes to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.
Another method to improve your prayer time is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God on a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to visualize the scenes within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their shoes. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.
It is also possible to incorporate different types of prayer into your routine. For example, try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing down your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.
One of the most effective ways to remain focused and in line with your prayer practice is by sharing it with other people. Find a accountability partner, a family member or friend member who will check in with you and help you to stick to your routine. They could even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.
Rememberthat the purpose of daily prayer is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned with His will. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to an unwritten set of rules, it’s about being intentional and consistent in your spiritual life. So, take the time to discover a prayer practice that is a good fit for you and incorporate it within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed by how much difference it makes for your spiritual development and overall health.
