Let’s be real, life is hectic and it’s easy to let prayer slip down on the list of priorities. But just like anything other thing worth having, it requires effort and discipline. This is where the creation of a prayer routine comes in. It helps us establish a an order and accountability to make sure we are connected to God on a a regular basis.
So, how do you start? It’s the first thing to do is figure out the time of day that is the most suitable time to pray. Some people like to start their day by praying, while others prefer to pray at night before going to bed. Experiment and see what works for you.
Once you’ve determined the best time to pray, you can start to build your routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayer:
Begin by talking to God and asking for his presence as you read and meditate.
Go through a section of the Bible and meditate on it. This can be done by reading it three or four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to keep.
Structure your prayer by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your needs and pressing concerns, and take time to be in God’s presence.
The beauty of a prayer routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. Many people might only have just a few minutes and others could have an hours or longer. The trick is that you make this a constant element of your day-to-day routine. If you don’t make it through one or two days Don’t be concerned! Get back on track the following day.
An everyday prayer practice is a wonderful method to begin your new year off with a new belief in the purpose of your life and a connection with the divine. It’s an effective way to begin your day by putting your focus upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.
Another way to increase your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of reciting the words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to visualize the scenes within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their shoes. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.
It is also possible to incorporate various forms in your prayer day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even journaling your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.
One of the best ways to stay engaged and focused on your prayer practice is by sharing the practice with others. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who will check in with you and help you to stick to your routine. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.
Rememberthat the purpose of a daily prayer practice is to increase your connection with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or following a strict set of guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your spiritual life. So, take the time to discover a prayer practice that you enjoy and set it as a priority in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed by how much difference it makes on your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
