After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for prayer in the morning:

Begin by talking to God, ask for his help while you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on it. This can be done by reading it three or four times, or writing down anything it tells you about yourself, guidelines to follow or promises to claim.

Make your prayer a ritual by making confession, adoration as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your immediate needs and worries, and take time to enjoy God’s presence.

The great thing about a prayer routine is that it is customizable to suit your needs. For some, you may have only some minutes while others might have an hour or more. The key is to make it a consistent part of your routine. If you don’t make it through one or two days do not fret! You can get back on track the following day.

Another method to improve your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting words, you should try to connect with God at a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to picture the scenes described within the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters, and put yourself in their position. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.

It is also possible to incorporate various forms prayers into your routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing down your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the most effective ways to stay focused and in line with your daily prayer routine is sharing the practice with others. Find a accountability partner, a friend or family member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to keep to your schedule. They may even join you in prayers and share their own experiences.

The goal of daily prayer is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned to His plan.
