Life is hectic and it’s easy for prayer to slip down on the list of priorities. However, just like everything else worth being a part of, it requires effort and discipline. This is where establishing a prayer routine comes in. It provides an order and accountability to ensure that we’re connected to God on a a regular basis.

So, how do you start? It’s the first thing to do is figure out what time of day works best for you to pray. Some people like to start their day by praying, while others prefer to pray at night before going to bed. Experiment and see what works for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer, you can start to build your routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayers:

Begin by approaching God, ask for his blessing while you read and pray.

Read a passage from the Bible and then meditate on it for a while. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times, or listing the things it says about yourself or guidelines to obey or promises to claim.

Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns, and take time to be in God’s presence.

The great thing about praying is that it can be adapted to meet your requirements. For some, you may have only a few minutes to spare and others could have a half an hours or longer. The key is that you make this a consistent part of your daily routine. If you fall off one or two days, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track the following day.

An everyday prayer practice is an excellent method to begin the new year with a new sense of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful method to start your day, placing your attention to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer time is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, you should try to connect with God at a deeper level. Try using your imagination to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This can make your time in prayer more personal and meaningful.

You can also try incorporating various forms prayers into your day-to-day routine. For example, try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even journaling your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the most effective ways to stay engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing it with others. Find an accountability partner, a family member or friend member who can check on you regularly and help you to adhere to your routine. They may even join you in prayers and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of a regular prayer routine is to strengthen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or following a strict set of rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to discover a prayer practice that works for you and incorporate it in your day-to-day life.
