This is where the creation of the habit of praying comes into. It helps us establish a an order and accountability to make sure we are connecting with the divine on regularly.
So, how do you get started? It’s the first thing to do is decide which time of the day is the most suitable time to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer, and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to going to bed. Try it out and discover what works for you.
Once you’ve identified the ideal time for prayer, you can start to build your routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayer:
Begin by talking to God, ask for his help while you read and pray.
Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself, or examples to follow, commands to obey or promises to make.
Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Pray for your urgent needs and concerns as well as taking time to sit in the presence of God.
The best thing about the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. Many people might only have a few minutes to spare while others might be able to devote a whole time or even more. The key is making it a consistent part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two, don’t sweat it! Just get back on track for the next day.
A daily prayer practice is an excellent opportunity to begin the new year with a new belief in the purpose of your life and a feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to begin your day by keeping your eyes to the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.
Another way to increase your prayer routine is to make it more interactive. Instead of simply reciting phrases, try engaging with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to visualize the scenes within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and place yourself in their shoes. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.
You can also try incorporating different types prayers into your daily routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming repetitive and provide the variety you need to your spiritual practice.
One of the most effective ways to remain motivated and on track with your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with other people. Find an accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will check on you regularly and help you to keep to your routine. They can even join you in prayer and share their own experiences.
The goal of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans.
