It’s true that life is hectic and it’s easy to let prayer slide off the list of priorities. However, just like everything else that’s worth having, it requires dedication and discipline. This is where establishing a prayer routine comes in. It helps us establish a the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re connecting with the divine on regularly.
How do you get started? First, you must determine which time of the day works best for you to pray. Some people like to start their day by praying, while others find it easier to pray before going to bed. Experiment and see which method works best for you.
After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer, you can start building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:
Begin by approaching God, ask for his blessing as you read and pray.
Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on the passage. It can be done by reading it three to four times or by listing the things it says about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to follow or promises to make.
Your prayer should be structured by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Pray for your needs and pressing concerns, and take time to sit in the presence of God.
The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. Many people might only have some minutes, while others may have an time or even more. The key is making it a constant part of your routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two do not fret! You can get back on track the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is an excellent opportunity to begin the new year with a fresh sense of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by keeping your eyes on the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.
Another way to increase your prayer time is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to visualize the scenes in the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and place yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more personal and meaningful.
You can also try incorporating various forms of prayer into your daily routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even journaling your prayers. This can keep your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide the variety you need to your spiritual practice.
One of the best ways to remain focused and in line with your daily prayers is sharing it with others. Find a partner in accountability, a family member or friend member who will be checking in with you and help you to keep to your schedule. They can even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.
Rememberthat the purpose of a regular prayer routine is to increase your connection with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned to His plan. It’s not about perfection or adhering to a strict set of rules, it’s about being deliberate and consistent in your spiritual life. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that is a good fit for you and make it a priority in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed by the impact it has on your spiritual growth and overall health.
