Let’s be real, life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayers slip down on the list of priorities. However, just like everything else that’s worth having, it takes effort and discipline. This is where the creation of the habit of praying comes into. It provides structure and accountability to make sure we are in contact with God on a a regular basis.

How do you start? It’s the first thing to do is determine the time of day that works best for you to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer, while others find it easier to pray in the evening before going to bed. Test and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time to pray, you can start to build your routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayer:

Begin by addressing God and asking for his help as you read and meditate.

Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on it. It can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself, or guidelines to obey , or promises to make.

Make your prayer a ritual by offering adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.

The best thing about praying is that it’s customizable to meet your requirements. For some, you may have only some minutes, while others may have an hours or longer. The trick is that you make this a consistent part of your routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two do not fret! Get back on track the next day.

A daily prayer practice is a great method to begin this new year feeling a fresh feeling of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s an effective way to start your day, keeping your eyes on the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.

Another way to increase your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God in a deeper way. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and place yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.

You can also try incorporating different forms of prayer into your daily routine. For example, try a silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even journaling your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the most effective methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your prayer practice is by sharing it with others. Find a accountability partner, a friend or family member who will check in with you and help you to adhere to your daily routine. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.

The goal of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned to His plan. It’s not about perfection or following the strict guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to find a prayer routine that is a good fit for you and incorporate it in your day-to-day life.
