Life can be hectic and it’s easy to let prayers slide off the list of priorities. However, just like everything else that’s worth being a part of, it requires effort and discipline. This is where establishing an effective prayer schedule comes in. It gives the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re in contact with God on a regularly.

So, how do you start? The first step is to figure out which time of the day works best for you to pray. Some prefer to begin their day by praying, and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to going to bed. Try it out and discover what works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time to pray then you can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayers:

Begin by approaching God and asking for his presence while you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it for a while. This can be done by reading it three to four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to claim.

Make your prayer a ritual by making confession, adoration, petition, and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your needs and pressing concerns as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.

The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it is customizable to meet your requirements. For some, you may have only some minutes, while others may have an time or even more. The key is making it a regular part of your routine. And if you miss a day or two, don’t sweat it! Just get back on track the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is a wonderful way to start your new year off with a new sense of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s an effective way to begin your day by keeping your eyes upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.

Another way to enhance your prayer practice is to make it more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God on a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character, and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This can make your time in prayer more personal and meaningful.

Try incorporating various forms of prayer into your routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the best methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing the practice with other people. Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who can check in with you and encourage you to keep to your daily routine. They may even join you in prayers and share their own experiences.

The goal of a daily prayer practice is to strengthen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line to His plan. It’s not about perfection or adhering to an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that is a good fit for you and incorporate it within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed by the impact it has on your spiritual growth and overall health.
