Once you’ve determined the best time to pray, you can start building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayer:

Begin by addressing God to ask for his presence as you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on the passage. This can be accomplished by reading it three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to claim.

Your prayer should be structured by offering adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your immediate needs and worries, and take time to enjoy God’s presence.

The beauty of a prayer routine is that it is customizable to suit your needs. Some people may only have just a few minutes, while others may be able to devote a whole time or even more. The trick is to make it a constant part of your routine. If you don’t make it through one or two days do not fret! Just get back on track the following day.

Another way to increase your prayer practice is to make it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God at a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to visualize the scenes within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character, and put yourself in their shoes. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating various forms in your prayer day-to-day routine. For example, try a silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to stay focused and in line with your prayer practice is by sharing it with other people. Find a partner in accountability either a close friend or family member who will be checking in with you and help you to stick to your routine. They can even join you in prayers and share their own experiences.

The goal of a regular prayer routine is to strengthen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned to His plan.
