The most challenging part of prayer is making it a consistent part of our life. But with a little bit of planning and effort, you can create a prayer routine that works for you and your time. And the best part is, you get to customize it to fit your personality and your spiritual beliefs.

It’s true that life can be hectic and it’s easy to let prayers slip down on the list of priorities. However, just like everything else worth having, it requires dedication and discipline. This is where establishing an effective prayer schedule comes in. It gives structure and accountability to ensure we’re connected to God on a a regular basis.

So, how do you begin? First, you must decide what time of day works best for you to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer, and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to going to bed. Experiment and see what works for you.

Once you’ve determined the best time to pray then you can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for prayer in the morning:

Begin by talking to God, ask for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Read a passage from the Bible and then meditate on the passage. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to claim.

Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your needs and pressing concerns, and take time to be in God’s presence.

The beauty of a prayer routine is that it is customizable to meet your requirements. Many people might only have a few minutes to spare while others might have an hour or more. The trick is making it a consistent part of your daily routine. And if you miss one or two days, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is a wonderful way to start this new year feeling a new belief in the purpose of your life and a feeling of connection to the divine. It’s an effective way to start your day, keeping your eyes to the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.

Another way to increase your prayer time is to make it more interactive. Instead of just reciting words, try to engage with God at a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character, and put yourself in their shoes. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.

Try incorporating different types prayers into your routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to remain engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing it with others. Find an accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will be checking in with you and encourage you to keep to your daily routine. They could even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of a daily prayer practice is to strengthen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfection or following a strict set of rules, it’s about being intentional and consistent in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to discover a prayer practice that works for you and make it a priority in your daily life.
