The most appealing part is that you can customize it to fit your personality and your spiritual beliefs.
Life is hectic and it’s easy to let prayers slip down on the priority list. But just like anything else that’s worth being a part of, it requires effort and discipline. This is where establishing the habit of praying comes into. It provides an order and accountability to ensure we’re connecting with the divine on a regular basis.
So, how do you start? First, you must decide the time of day that is most conducive to you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day by praying, while others prefer to pray at night before bed. Try it out and discover what works best for you.
Once you’ve determined the best time to pray, you can start building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:
Begin by approaching God and asking for his blessing while you read and pray.
Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it for a while. This can be done by reading it three or four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself, examples to follow, commands to obey , or promises to claim.
Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your needs and pressing concerns and then take time to sit in the presence of God.
The great thing about praying is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. Many people might only have some minutes while others might have a half an hour or more. It’s important that you make this a regular element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! Just get back on track the following day.
An everyday prayer practice is a great method to begin this new year feeling a fresh sense of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s an effective way to start your day, putting your focus upon the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.
Another way to enhance your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God in a deeper way. Try using your imagination to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and place yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more personal and meaningful.
You can also try incorporating various forms prayers into your routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.
One of the best ways to stay motivated and on track with your daily prayer routine is sharing it with other people. Find an accountability partner, a friend or family member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to keep to your schedule. They could even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.
Remember, the goal of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned with His will. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to the strict rules, it’s about being deliberate and consistent in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that you enjoy and make it a priority in your day-to-day life.
