Begin by approaching God, ask for his help as you read and pray.

Read a passage from the Bible and meditate on it for a while. It can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself or guidelines to follow or promises to make.

Structure your prayer by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Pray for your needs and pressing concerns as well as taking time to be in God’s presence.

Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.

You can also try incorporating various forms of prayer into your daily routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing down your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

Find a partner in accountability, a family member or friend member who will be checking in with you and help you to adhere to your schedule. They may even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.
