This is where establishing the habit of praying comes into. It helps us establish a an order and accountability to ensure we’re in contact with God on a an ongoing basis.
How do you get started? The first step is to determine the time of day that is most conducive to you to pray. Some people like to start their day by praying, while others find it easier to pray at night before bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.
Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer, you can start to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayers:
Begin by talking to God to ask for his presence while you read and pray.
Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times, or writing down the things it says about yourself, examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to claim.
Structure your prayer by making confession, adoration, petition, and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your immediate needs and worries, and take time to sit in the presence of God.
The great thing about a prayer routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. Some people may only have just a few minutes and others could have an hour or more. The key is to make it a constant part of your routine. If you fall off one or two days do not fret! Get back on track the following day.
An everyday prayer practice is a wonderful opportunity to begin the new year with a fresh belief in the purpose of your life and a feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to begin your day by placing your attention to the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.
Another way to increase your prayer practice is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described in the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character, and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.
It is also possible to incorporate different types in your prayer daily routine. For example, try a silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing down your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide some variety to your daily spiritual routine.
One of the most effective ways to remain motivated and on track with your prayer practice is by sharing the practice with other people. Find a accountability partner, a family member or friend member who will be checking in with you and encourage you to stick to your routine. They can even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.
The goal of a regular prayer routine is to increase your connection with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned with His will. It’s not about achieving perfection or following the strict rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to find a prayer routine that works for you and make it a priority within your everyday life.
