The most difficult aspect of prayer is to make it a regular part of our lives. With a bit of planning and effort, you can create a prayer routine that works for you and your time. And the most appealing part is that you can customize it to match your own personality and your spiritual beliefs.

It’s true that life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayer get lost on the priority list. However, just like everything else that’s worth being a part of, it requires dedication and discipline. That’s where developing a prayer routine comes in. It helps us establish a an order and accountability to ensure we’re in contact with God on a a regular basis.

So, how do you get started? It’s the first thing to do is determine what time of day works best for you to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer, while others find it easier to pray before going to getting to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayer:

Begin by addressing God and asking for his presence as you read and meditate.

Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it. It can be done by reading it three to four times or by listing the things it says about yourself, or examples to follow, commands to obey or promises to make.

Your prayer should be structured by making confession, adoration, petition, and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to sit in the presence of God.

The beauty of praying is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. Some people may only have a few minutes to spare and others could be able to devote a whole time or even more. The trick is making it a consistent element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the following day.

A daily prayer practice is a great way to start the new year with a fresh belief in the purpose of your life and a connection with the divine. It’s a powerful method to start your day, placing your attention on the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.

Another way to enhance your prayer practice is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.

You can also try incorporating various forms of prayer into your daily routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even journaling your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the most effective methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with others. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who can check in with you and help you to stick to your routine. They can even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of a regular prayer routine is to deepen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to a strict set of rules, it’s about being deliberate and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that works for you and make it a priority within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed by how much difference it makes in your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
