The most challenging aspect of praying is making it a constant element of our daily life. But with a little amount of planning and effort it is possible to create a prayer routine that works for you and your time. The best part is, you get to customize it to match your own personality and spiritual tradition.

Let’s be real, life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayer slide off the priority list. But just like anything other thing worth having, it requires dedication and discipline. This is where the creation of the habit of praying comes into. It helps us establish a the structure and accountability needed to ensure that we’re connected to God on a a regular basis.

So, how do you get started? The first step is to decide the time of day that is most conducive to you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer, while others prefer to pray at night before going to bed. Test and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time for prayer You can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayer:

Begin by talking to God to ask for his help as you read and meditate.

Take a chapter from the Bible and then meditate on it. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to claim.

Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your urgent needs and concerns, and take time to sit in the presence of God.

The beauty of praying is that it is customizable to suit your needs. Many people might only have a few minutes to spare while others might have a half an hours or longer. The key is that you make this a regular part of your routine. If you fall off one or two days do not fret! Get back on track the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is an excellent opportunity to begin this new year feeling a new sense of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to start your day, placing your attention to the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.

Another way to increase your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of reciting the phrases, try engaging with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their shoes. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.

It is also possible to incorporate different types of prayer into your routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to remain motivated and on track with your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with other people. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who will be checking in with you and help you to stick to your daily routine. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.

Rememberthat the purpose of daily prayer is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfection or adhering to a strict set of guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that is a good fit for you and incorporate it in your daily life.
