Are you looking to take your spiritual journey to the next level? One of the best ways to accomplish this is to establish a regular prayer routine.

Consider it your spiritual workout, just as you workout to stay fit, a daily prayer practice keeps your soul healthy and connected to the divine.

The most difficult aspect of prayer is making it a consistent part of our daily life. But with a little bit of planning and effort you can develop an effective prayer schedule that works for you and your schedule. The best part is, you are able to modify it to fit your personality and your spiritual beliefs.

Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy to let prayers slip down on the priority list. However, just like everything else that’s worth having, it takes dedication and discipline. This is where establishing the habit of praying comes into. It helps us establish a the structure and accountability needed to make sure we are connecting with the divine on a regular basis.

So, how do you start? First, you must figure out what time of day is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day by praying, while others prefer to pray at night before getting to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer then you can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayer:

Begin by approaching God and asking for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it for a while. This can be accomplished by reading it three to four times or by listing the things it says about yourself, guidelines to obey or promises to keep.

Your prayer should be structured by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to be in God’s presence.

The beauty of a prayer routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. For some, you may have only just a few minutes while others might be able to devote a whole hours or longer. It’s important to make it a constant element of your day-to-day routine. And if you miss a day or two do not fret! Get back on track the following day.

The practice of daily prayer is a great opportunity to begin the new year with a fresh belief in the purpose of your life and a feeling of connection to the divine. It’s an effective way to begin your day by keeping your eyes upon the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.

Another method to improve your prayer time is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God on a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to picture the scenes described within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their shoes. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.

You can also try incorporating different types prayers into your routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the most effective methods to keep yourself motivated and on track with your daily prayers is sharing your practice with others. Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will check on you regularly and help you to keep to your routine. They can even join you in prayer and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to strengthen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfectionism or following the strict guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. Therefore, make the effort to discover a prayer practice that works for you and incorporate it within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed by the impact it has in your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
