Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer, you can start to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:
Begin by addressing God and asking for his presence as you read and meditate.
Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on the passage. It can be done by reading it three or four times, or writing down everything it reveals about yourself, or guidelines to follow or promises to make.
Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Make a prayer for your needs and pressing concerns and then take time to be in God’s presence.
The great thing about praying is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. Many people might only have some minutes while others might have a half an time or even more. The key is making it a constant part of your daily routine. If you fall off a day or two, don’t sweat it! Get back on track for the next day.

Another method to improve your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to visualize the scenes in the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and put yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.
You can also try incorporating various forms prayers into your day-to-day routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide the variety you need to your spiritual practice.
One of the most effective methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing it with other people. Find a partner in accountability either a close friend or family member who will be checking in with you and encourage you to keep to your daily routine. They can even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.
The goal of a daily prayer practice is to strengthen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans.
