Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy to let prayer slide off the priority list. However, just like everything else worth having, it requires dedication and discipline. This is where the creation of an effective prayer schedule comes in. It gives an order and accountability to make sure we are connected to God on a regularly.

So, how do you start? It’s the first thing to do is determine which time of the day is most conducive to you to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer, while others find it easier to pray before going to getting to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.

Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer, you can start building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayer:

Begin by approaching God, ask for his help as you read and meditate.

Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on it for a while. It can be done by reading it three or four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to make.

Your prayer should be structured by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Prayerfully address your needs and pressing concerns as well as taking time to sit in the presence of God.

The beauty of a prayer routine is that it can be adapted to meet your requirements. For some, you may have only a few minutes to spare while others might have a half an time or even more. The trick is to make it a constant element of your day-to-day routine. And if you miss one or two days do not fret! You can get back on track for the next day.

A daily prayer practice is an excellent opportunity to begin the new year with a renewed feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s an effective way to begin your day by placing your attention on the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer time is to make it more engaging. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God in a deeper way. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different types in your prayer day-to-day routine. For example, try a silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even journaling your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the most effective methods to keep yourself focused and in line with your prayer practice is by sharing the practice with others. Find an accountability partner either a close friend or family member who can check on you regularly and help you to adhere to your schedule. They can even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of a daily prayer practice is to strengthen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions with His will. It’s not about perfection or adhering to an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your daily spiritual practice. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that works for you and make it a priority in your daily life.
