The most challenging part of praying is making it a constant part of our daily lives. But with a little time and planning it is possible to create your own prayer routine that is suitable for you and your schedule. And the most appealing part is that you are able to modify it to match your own personality and spiritual tradition.

It’s true that life can be busy and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the list of priorities. However, just like everything other thing worth having, it requires effort and discipline. That’s where developing a prayer routine comes in. It gives the structure and accountability needed to ensure that we’re connecting with the divine on regularly.

So, how do you begin? First, you must figure out which time of the day works best for you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer, while others find it easier to pray before going to bed. Test and see what works best for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer You can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for prayer in the morning:

Begin by approaching God and asking for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Take a chapter from the Bible and then meditate on it. This can be accomplished by reading it three or four times or by listing anything it tells you about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to keep.

Make your prayer a ritual by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your immediate needs and worries and then take time to be in God’s presence.

The great thing about a prayer routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. Many people might only have just a few minutes and others could have a half an hour or more. The key is to make it a regular element of your day-to-day routine. If you don’t make it through the occasional day or two do not fret! Just get back on track for the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is an excellent method to begin your new year off with a new belief in the purpose of your life and a feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by keeping your eyes upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer practice is to make it more interactive. Instead of reciting the phrases, try engaging with God at a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to visualize the scenes in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different types of prayer into your day-to-day routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming repetitive and provide the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the best ways to remain motivated and on track with your daily prayers is sharing your practice with others. Find a partner in accountability either a close friend or family member who can check in with you and encourage you to keep to your daily routine. They could even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.

Remember, the goal of a regular prayer routine is to strengthen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line in accordance with His plans. It’s not about achieving perfection or following the strict rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. So, take the time to find a prayer routine that works for you and set it as a priority in your daily life. You’ll be amazed at how much difference it makes for your spiritual development and overall health.
