Begin by addressing God, ask for his presence as you read and pray.
Take a chapter from the Bible and reflect on it. This can be done by reading it three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself or the examples you can follow, instructions to follow or promises to make.
Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Pray for your needs and pressing concerns as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.
The beauty of a prayer routine is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. Some people may only have just a few minutes while others might be able to devote a whole time or even more. Try using your imagination to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and put yourself in their shoes. This can make your time in prayer more personal and meaningful.
It is also possible to incorporate different types prayers into your day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing your prayers. Find a accountability partner, a family member or friend member who can check in with you and help you to stick to your routine.
